In historical records and literary works, King Zhou of Shang is a dissolute tyrant who made his country destroyed and was executed finally. However, his debauchery and cruelty is the common trait of the ruling class at that period, and his negative image is the product of later generations of historians＇ overstatement. During his reign, he opposed theocracy and enhanced kingship, but his headstrong personality and misaligned military strategy combined with social contradictions led to his tragedy.
