There had been several debates on the righteousness and interests between Chen Liang and Zhu Xi in history. As a result, for a long time, most scholars have thought that Chen Liang belonged to the school that paid attention to the interests in terms of the righteousness and interests. Combined with Chen Liang＇s personal experiences and his actual contact with rich merchants in Yiwu, and seen from his comments on the rich merchants, Chen Liang was regarded as the man whose thought was to propose the harmonious integration of both righteousness and interests rather than the mere interests.
