The Songliao Basin is the largest Cretaceous lacustrine rift basin located in northeastern China. It has attracted widespread attention due to the development of two oil shale sequences in the upper Cretaceous K2qn1 and K2n2 （Liu et al., 2011; Bechtel et al., 2012; Jia et al., 2013）.
