The folk music department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music is the earliest and the most comprehensive modem music department in China. From the perspective of modern discipline development, the comprehensive his- torical research is carried on, the academic tradition and the discipline structure is analyzed, chievement of the school and the scholar is appraised, so as to provide reference for the future development. and the historical a- and related disciplines
