英语学习者议论文论证结构特征研究

Analysis of Argument Structure in Chinese EFL Argumentative Writing

本研究运用Coffin(2004)所提出的议论文结构框架来分析我国英语学习者的议论文论证结构特征。结果表明,劝说阐述型、分析阐述型、劝说讨论型、分析讨论型这4种结构类型都出现在语料中,但使用情况存在明显差异。学生更偏向于使用阐述型、劝说式结构,并且不善于使用反方论点和论据进行论述;对于同一结构类型的作文,得分也存在明显差异。本研究分析造成这些差异的原因,并为改善英语议论文写作教学提出一些建议。

The present study examines argument structures in Chinese EFL argumentative writings using the argument structure framework proposed by Coffin( 2004). The results indicate that the corpus covers all the four common arguing genres( Hortatory Exposition,Analytical Exposition,Hortatory Discussion,and Analytical Discussion). The students show a preference for exposition and discussion argument genres. Few essays include counterargument or counterargument evidence. There is also a great variance among the scores of the essays in the same argument genre.Possible reasons for the differences are analyzed,and suggestions for writing instruction are provided.
