A Study of Kingdom Qi's Strategies to Achieve Hegemony during the First Half of the Spring & Autumn Period

齐桓公的首霸天下,被后人喻为春秋史上最瞩目的事件。其霸业的铸就是经姜太公初封后近360年深厚积累,以及从齐僖公"小伯"到齐襄公并纪的战略准备。齐桓公创霸的成功有两方面的重要因素:集一时之选不世出的人物风云际会;不期然而至的积极因素的绝佳遇合。创霸君臣们的主要事功蕴含着丰富的战略智慧,涵掩着深刻的历史经验与教训,值得后世之人"深思而慎取之"。

Duke Huan of Qi Kingdom was the first to have achieved hegemony during the Spring Autumn Period,which has been regarded as the most notable event of this period of history. This achievement was made possible,first,for Jiang Ziya＇s cultivation for about 360 years after he was conferred a rank; second for the strategic preparations which had been carried on for generations from Duke Xi of Qi to Duke Xiang of Qi. There are two prominent factors for his successful hegemony：a hall of epic heroes and a once-in-a-blue-moon opportunity. The epic deeds of the Duke and his chancellors displayed a variety of strategic wisdom,conveyed profound historical lessons,all of which may evoke thinking among people nowadays.
