摘要
隋唐五代时期,由于五岭交通主要通道东移,加上湘桂走廊桂州中心城市的兴起,虽然梧州经济也有一定的发展,但随着海上丝绸之路中心港广州地位确立,梧州在陆海丝绸之路通道的作用地位降低,逐渐失去广西中心城市的作用。交通格局变化与桂州中心城市的确立,加之梧州周围仍多为少数民族居地,这些都是梧州地位下降的重要原因。
During the Period of Sui-Tang and Five Dynasties, the main transportation passage of the Five Ridges moved eastward, and Guizhou (present Guilin) rose to be the hub city in the Hunan-Guangxi Corridor. With the establishment of Guangzhou as the central port along the Maritime Silk Road, Wuzhou was gradually deprived of its role as a passage of the land and maritime Silk Roads and its role as the hub city in Guangxi although its economy achieved a mild development. The change of transportation pattern and the establishment of Guizhou as the hub city, in addition to the fact that most of the neighboring areas aound Wuzhou were inhabited by ethnic minorities, resulted in the decline of Wuzhou's status.
