Interpretation of the Dispute in a Funeral Ceremony in Southeastern Chongqing

丧葬仪式的变迁很好地反映着地方村落传统的存续方式。文章所述的葬礼上的短暂冲突,并不过多地体现着外来文化与地方逻辑的对立,更主要反映出对于传统的利用与反利用。从对葬礼仪式冲突双方行为逻辑的考察可以看出,地方村落传统在表面的冲突与存疑的认同中以一种非均质性的变异形式得以再生、复制、延传,但现代性的阴影下,传统的丧葬仪式依然面临着是否能够为生者和死者提供尊严的诘问。

The change of funeral ceremony ,veil mirrors the existence and continuation of village traditions. The temporary dispute in a funeral stated in this paper reveals the utilization and counter utilization of traditions more than the conflict between alien culture and local logic. By examining the behavior logic of both parties of dispute in the funeral ceremony, it is found that the local vil- lage traditions have been reborn, reproduced and inherited in the form of variation with heterogeneity between the superficial dispute and skeptical recognition. In the shade of modernity, the traditional funeral ceremony, however, is still challenged by whether it can offer dignity to the dead and the living.
