Proposals to Integrate Mother Tongue Culture in English Textbook Compilation

语言和文化密不可分，英语教材编写应重视目的语文化和母语文化的输入。当前我国英语教材在母语文化输入编写方面存在的问题主要有：母语文化输入缺乏明确的大纲指导、教材编写注重目的语文化的输入而忽视母语文化的介绍和过分夸大母语的负迁移作用。教材编写应坚持适度和平衡、“扬弃”、文化比较和对比以及从易到难、循序渐进和趣味性的原则，并对此提出了相关建议，如修订现行大纲，补充中国文化内容、创新教材编写模式和慎重认真甄选母语文化材料等措施。

Language and culture are inseparable. Target language culture and mother tongue culture should be valued in English textbook compilation. There are some problems concerning the integration of mother tongue culture such as lack- ing specific syllabus to guide the input of mother tongue culture, attaching too much importance to the input of target lan- guage culture but ignoring the input of mother tongue culture and over exaggerating the negative transfer of mother tongue. So the corresponding principles should be conformed to in the textbook compilation including appropriateness and balance, sublation, cultural comparison and contrast, and the principles of proper ever-increasing difficulty, progressiveness and in- terest. Based on these, some relevant proposals are put forward （e.g. revising the present English teaching syllabus and sup- plementing Chinese culture, innovating the compiling patterns of textbook, meticulous selection of mother language materi- als and so on ）.
