摘要
本文立论于汉语的空间性特质与英语的时间性特质(王文斌,2013a,2013b),旨在阐释汉英名量搭配的一个显著差异:汉语多个体量词,而英语则多集体量词。本文以量词"piece"的汉译与"群"的英译为例,从词源、句法、语用和认知这四个维度,分别讨论汉语个体量词与英语集体量词所反映的时空特质。本文认为,汉英名量搭配在词源、句法、语用、认知等诸方面的不同,均反映出汉语重空间而英语重时间这一本质性差异。
Grounded on the position that Chinese is of spatiality and English is of temporality（ Wang Wenbin, 2013a, 20]3b） , this paper aims at illustrating a significant discrepancy between Chinese and English： the former has more individual classifiers, while the latter possesses more collective ones. Taking for example the translations of piece and qun, the paper probes into the traits of Chinese and English from the dimensions of etymology, syntax, pragmatics and cognition involving the use of classifiers. The finding shows that the differences between Chinese individual classifiers and English collective ones can basically reflect the spatiality of Chinese and the temporality of English.
