Tourism translation in Zhangjiakou in relation to the winter Olympics

2022年冬奥会申办成功给张家口的城市发展带来了机遇和挑战,当地的旅游设施在公示语翻译、景区景介翻译、民俗文化翻译等方面还存在单词拼写错误、语法运用欠规范、逐字硬译、啰嗦冗余等问题,翻译的规范性、严谨性和专业性方面还有欠缺,建议加强管理,统一化、规范化运作,建立和培训专业化双语工作队伍,遵循异化翻译策略,保留文化形象和文化韵味,以提高文化宣传品质,提升张家口的城市建设水平。

The 2022 winter Olympics is two-folded to Zhangjiakou with challenges and opportunities in relation to the translation of public signs and folk culture in scenic spots. Misspellings, grammatical mistakes, redundancy and weird literal translations are seen everywhere. This article argues for a firm regulation on the translations in professionalism and competence, for it can, among others, benefit Zhangjiakou as a civilized city.
