Chinese and western cultures differ immensely in ontology, methodology and values, but they are both contradictory and complementary. Likewise, the writer assumes that this is owing to the needs of the modern society and trends of the world cultures. The merging and creativity may become the direction of Chinese and western cultures in the future.
