南海海上丝绸之路在形成前,南越人经过了长期的航海知识积累。战国至南越国时期已经有了海外贸易。汉武帝在为"海丝"开通前经过了一系列准备。公元前111年汉武帝灭南越国,在岭南设九郡,合浦成为始发港,应为南海"海丝"形成的标志,也是汉武帝一生中的壮举。

Long before the formation of the Maritime Silk Road of Nanhai, Nanyue people had navigated in Nanhai. There had been maritime trade during the Warring States Period to the Nanyue State Period. And for the opening of the Road, a significant action in his life, Emperor Wu of Han dynasty made a series of preparations. Then, at 111 B. C. , he destroyed the Nanyue State, set up nine provinces in Ling Nan areas, and Hepu Harbor was established as the？ port of departure of navigation of the Maritime Silk Route. Thus, this year, 111 B. C should be the formation？ time of the Maritime Silk Road in the South China Sea.
