摘要
安吉拉·卡特在短篇小说创作中流露出唯美主义倾向。她的作品响应了唯美主义运动"为艺术而艺术"、"以艺术指导生活"和"完美的形式"等口号,她的创作风格与唯美主义前辈们隔空呼应。以短篇小说集《染血之室与其他故事》为例,其中的语言之美、变态美、肉体之美都体现了她对于完美的不懈追求和对于道德与规矩的不屑一顾。同时,她以自身的审美情趣,塑造了享乐主义主张下注重物质、注重当下的众多角色。
Angela Carter shows a tendency towards aestheticism in her creation of short stories. Her works complywith the aesthetic principle of" art for art' s sake", "art as a guidance of life", and" perfect form". Her writing style reconciles with her predecessors of aestheticism. The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories is a good example to illustrate this. Her genius with the language, the abnormal beauty, and the beauty of flesh and sex are all evidence of her relentless pursuit on perfection and her contempt on morals and cliches. Also, with her refined taste, she builds characters who are obsessed with the material and the moment.
