The subjects and narratives of the Western juvenile novels are usually radical and complicated, especially when war, love, sex, rebellion and other acute themes are involved. When these novels are translated into Chinese and published in China, a dramatic "face -changing" will happen on the book covers compared to their original Western versions. The major transitions are mainly from heaviness to lightness, from concrete to abstract, from darkness to brightness, and from maturity to childishness. The Changes demonstrate the different culture backgrounds of the creation and reception in the West and in China. The translation of juvenile novels should consider the fact that the teenagers could be constructed construct themselves as well, and adopt an appropriate method in the "face changing" issue.
