Waiting for the Barbarians is considered as a political allegory. However, this allegory＇ s plots, characters and settings can find archetypes in the world-famous fairy tale, Little Red Cap. The ＂barbarian＂ girl （＂Little Red Cap＂） was captured by Colonel Joll （＂wolf＂） in the ＂civilized＂ Empire （＂forest＂） and then rescued by the Magistrate（＂hunter＂）. Finally, the ＂barbarian＂ girl set off the journey to the homeland. Using ＂Little Red Cap＂ as archetypes can not only comprehend the relationship more clearly among Colonel Joll, the ＂barbarian＂ girl and the Magistrate, but also get a better understanding of the philosophical meaning on Waiting for the Barbarians.
