On Zhang Shiying's Contributions to Hegelian Studies

张世英先生的哲学研究可以分为两个时期:第一个时期他专注于黑格尔和德国古典哲学,第二个时期则转向现当代西方哲学和中西哲学的比较研究,在此基础上形成了具有原创性的哲学体系。但"转向"之后,他并没有远离黑格尔哲学,而是在一个更大的视野内为黑格尔哲学赋予了新的活力。就其对黑格尔哲学研究的广度、深度、成果和影响而言,张世英先生无疑是中国当代最杰出的黑格尔专家,为中国的黑格尔学术做出了卓越贡献。

Prof.Zhang Shiying's academic career can be divided into two periods:the first of which he focuses on Hegelian and classical German philosophy,while the second of which he turns to contemporary western philosophy and comparative study between western philosophy and traditional Chinese philosophy.On the basis of the two periods,he forms a philosophical system of his own,which is both original and influential in China.After the 'turn',Prof.Zhang is not far away from the philosophy of Hegel,but brings out new vitality in the broader field of vision.In terms of the breadth,depth,achievement and influence with regard to his study of Hegel's philosophy,Prof.Zhang is undoubtedly the most outstanding expert of Hegel in contemporary China,and has made great contributions to Hegelian studies.
