吐蕃高僧益西央考辨

Reserch and Analysis on Ancient Eminent Tibetan Monk Ye Shes Dbyangs

受命于吐蕃王廷,高僧巴廓·益西央率领他的藏、汉团队,在藏东一线摩崖刻石,弘扬佛法、力促唐蕃和平。而在法藏敦煌古藏文文献P.T.996中,记载了另一位高僧布·益西央的传略。本文经过梳理和分析,认为这两住高僧的人生轨迹重合,实为同一人,巴廓·益西央即布·益西央。吐蕃政权分裂后,由于社会动荡、信息闭塞、路途遥远,后人在流传过程中难免产生讹误,导致后弘期史籍中将巴廓·益西央误写为布·益西央。

Subject to the orders of the Ancient Tibetan government, the eminent monk Pa gor Ye shes dbyangs led his team of Tibetan and Han people, carved statues and sutras on cliff in eastern Tibet, so as to propagate the Dharma and promote peace between Tang Dynasty and Ancient Tibet. However, French Collected Dunhuang Documents in Ancient Tibetan Language P.T.996 recorded a brief biography of another eminent monk Spug Ye shes dbyangs. Our research and analysis show that, life trajectories of the two eminent monk Ye shes dbyangs were the same, they were actually one person, Pa gor Ye shes dbyangs was Spug Ye shes dbyangs. The Ancient Tibetan regime split led to social unrest, lack of information and distant route, all of these caused the later people made mistakes in process of spreading, and mistakenly recorded Pa gor Ye shes dbyangs as Spug Ye shes dbyangs in the historical records of the Latter Prosperity of Tibetan Buddhism.
