Teachers and students specialized in English literature should have some linguistic knowledge to help them apprecia- ting and analyzing works. Systemic functional linguistics helps a lot in this process. This present article provides ways in analy- zing English literary works from views of systemic functional grammar, with rich exemplar cases, to contribute to integral under- standing and appreciation of English literary works.
