From Confusion to Enlightenment——On Yuan Miao's Chan theory

高峰原妙禅师是禅宗临济宗杨岐派的重要人物,其提倡的看话禅禅法影响重大。禅宗的种种参禅法门过程各不相同,高峰原妙的看话禅禅法提倡让学人通过参疑团问句,使心神凝聚精神集中,达到忘记身边一切,即起疑情的境界,在达到这种境界后,要求修行者继续坚持这种状态,最终达到开悟,洞见世界万物的本质,及其自性的目的。原妙的看话禅是一套系统的指导修行者实践修行的方法理论。

Yuan Miao is a famous Chan master of Lin-ji sect of Dhyana sect, Yuan-miao ＇ s Chan practice is named Kanhua Chan, and it has significant influence in the history of Dhyana sect. The processes of Chan prac-tices are different. Kanhua Chan of Yuan-miao makes people think about a question deeply, and through this way makes people forget everything except this question. This condition is named Qiyiqing by Dhyana sect. When people get in this condition, they need to insist, and then they will wake up, and know the nature of Exist-ence. Kanhua Chan of Yuan-miao is a systematic theory which can guide people in practice.
