奥克肖特对自由政府的保守阐释

Oakeshott's Conservative Interpretation of Liberal Government

在《保守论》一文中,奥克肖特在一般的政治哲学理据之外,运用一种以熟悉性为关键词的保守气质,阐释其所设定的自由政府。奥氏意义上的保守气质,不是证成自由政府之好且合理的哲学理据,而是理解自由政府是什么的阐释工具,虽然保守气质说仍可凭借其现代性和新颖性拓展自由主义哲学的理论视域。奥克肖特没有对保守气质作严格的哲学说明和论证,但考虑到他所具有的行为模式多元论的思想底色,其保守气质说仍是持之有故和言之成理的。

In On Being Conservative,Oakeshott didn’t employ the metaphysical justification,the utilitarian justification and the traditional justification,but used the conservative disposition characterized by familiarity and non-purpose,to interpret a kind of liberal government which characterized non-purpose and rule of law.Although conservative disposition is not the justification to justify the good and reasonableness of liberal government,but the interpretative tool of such government,the theory of conservative disposition is modern and original,and could rich the intellectual resources of liberalism.Oakeshott’s conservative disposition is only a special kind of such dispositions,and he didn’t demonstrate why the conservative disposition described in On Being Conservative should be preferred.However,given his human conduct pluralism,the theory of conservative disposition has sufficient grounds and stands to reason.
