Yield, Compromise and Resistance——An Analysis of the Females in Salman Rushdie's Shame

萨尔曼·拉什迪的作品《羞耻》是根据以巴基斯坦的政治大变革而写的小说。拉什迪以奇妙的魔幻现实主义和隐喻的手法,描写了一群承担着各种社会家庭角色的女性形象。她们在《羞耻》中的生活状态,形象具体的反映了在小说中极度的伊斯兰男权社会里,女性除了依附男性别无选择,一旦她们有了个人思想,那么"疯癫"就是必然结果。

Based on the Pakistani political revolution, Salman Rushdie provides the reader a story by means of magic realism. Apart from the politics, the story shows a group of females under an absolute patriarchal and religious society. Those females have different family and social roles, including the mother, the lover, the wife, the friend, the family head and the servant, whose living stories in this novel vividly shows the yield, the resistance, and the compromise of the Islamic females.
