Its charm remains over many decades of years. It vividly portrays the two contrasting figures, in which I stand for the traditional wom- en＇s image and Rebecca possesses traitorous thoughts. ＂I＂, as a heroine in this novel, experiences and narrates the whole story. ＂I＂am as virtuous as an angel, while Rebecca is as evil as a devil. Through an- alyzing the characters of Rebecca and ＇T＇, this article discloses two sharply distinct images of women in the patriarchal society.
