莎士比亚的中国百年——南京大学也有浓墨重彩的一笔

Shakespeare Jubilees Presented by a Chinese University

作为西方文艺复兴时期人文主义思想的“艺术符号”，莎士比亚戏剧历经400余年，其影响日益深远。2014年、2016年分别是莎士比亚诞辰450周年、逝世400周年，在长达两年的时间里，世界各地已经和即将举办许多隆重的纪念活动。莎士比亚戏剧在中国的百年传播史，也是中国对莎士比亚戏剧的接受史。这个接受史既有与世界各国一样接受人类文学艺术瑰宝的共通性，也有基于我国特定文化背景与历史情境的特殊性，是研究中外文学艺术与文化交流及其作用与影响的一个非常重的个案。

This paper describes the 1964 and 2014 Shakespeare Jubilees presented by the English Department of Nanjing University, with a brief review of the teaching of Hamlet as an ＂ideal humanist＂ in the last century in China. It looks back the only Shakespeare Jubilee in China in 1964 which was held on May 16, its aftermath in the ＂Great Culture Revolution＂ which was coincidentally launched two sharp years later on May 16, 1966, and its echoes on another Jubilee evening held fifty sharp years later in 2014 on the same day of May 16. In reviewing the two Jubilees, the profound significance of teaching and studying Shakespeare in China as part of the humanism education in the special historical context is demonstrated.
