从葛水平的访谈和她的作品中不难看到,葛水平的女性意识是非常有限的。正是因为女性意识的缺乏,她笔下的女性大多都走向了她们命运的悲剧。由于自身成长经历,葛水平对男权思想是有着微妙认同的。红霞的悲剧很大程度上是源于葛水平对男权思想的认同,这种认同的控制下使得红霞先后失去话语权、人身自由。但是她毕竟是一个人,拥有着健康的人性。在男权的淫威下,她进行着无形的反抗,追求着自认的理想爱情。
