“墨子号”量子卫星背后的“科圣”

“SCIENTIFIC SAGE” BEHIND THE QUANTUM SATELLITE “MICIUS”

2016年8月16日；麦晨1时40分，当很多人进入梦乡的时候，在酒泉发射中心传来“一声巨响”，中国用长征二号丁运载火箭成功将世界首颗量子科学实验卫星“墨子号”，发射升空。

On August 16,2016,at 1:40 am,China successfully launched the world's first QUESS 'Micius' on a Long March-2D rocket.After the successful launch of the satellite,Mr.Pan Jianwei,chief scientist of the QUESS project,academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Executive Vice President of the University of Science and Technology of China,said in a media interview, 'We want to use the name to remind everyone that Chinese people can also make outstanding scientific achievements.We have been able to do it well in the past and at present,and will make more achievements in the future.' In the view of Academician Pan Jianwei,the quantum satellite named after a former sage not only is commemorative,but also contains the meaning of 'world's first launch'.Moreover,it also manifests cultural confidence.
