Philosophy and Linguistics Are Cradles for Each Other

我国语言学界长期以来缺少学派意识,更无自己的理论体系,难以在世界学术舞台进行平等对话,这已成为很多有识之士的一块心病。中西语言哲学研究会经多年思考,建议将"中国后语言哲学"作为我国语言学界的本土理论加以打造,以期经过一段时间的努力,将国内相关成果整合为有我国特色的语言理论,以便能尽快去掉这块心病。有部分学者不免会问,语言研究为何一定要与哲学纠缠在一起。这可用Robins的一句名言作答:"哲学是语言学的摇篮"。本文继而认为,是哲学的,定能为语言研究所用;是语言的,必然关涉哲学理论,这两个学科唇齿相依,同生共长,它们具有"互为摇篮"的紧密关系。本文继王天翼等所论述的"认知语言学对西方哲学的贡献",再次分析概念整合论对哲学和逻辑学的推进作用。"互为摇篮"观也可视为中国后语言哲学和第二次启蒙的内容之一。

The linguistic circle in China is lacking in school awareness of its own, not to speak of its own theoretical system, thus causing it difficult to hold equal dialogue on the international academic stage, which has worried so many scholars of insight. The Chinese Association for the Philosophy of Language, after years of thinking, has suggested to forge＂ China＇s Post-philosophy of Language＂as our native theory so as to establish China＇s linguistic theory with its own characteristics and remove this worry as soon as possible, with a period of efforts in integrating the relative researches at home. Some colleagues would naturally ask why linguistic studies should be combined with philosophy. The right response will be Robins＇ celebrated dictum ＂Philosophy had been the cradle of linguistics＂. This paper holds that if it is of philosophy, it can certainly be used for linguistic research; and that if it is of language, it is certainly associated with philosophy. These two disciplines are closely related as lips and teeth, with simultaneous root and development, thus being cradles for each other. Following Wang Tianyi＇s writing ＂The Contributions of Cognitive Linguis- tics to Western Philosophy＂, the paper attempts to re-analyze the impelling role of Conceptual Blending Theory in philosophy and logic. The view of ＂Cradles for Each Other＂ can be regarded as one of the issues in China＇s Post-philosophy of Language and the Second Philosophical Enlightenment.
