林风眠一生致力于将中国绘画和国外水彩进行结合,寻找新思路,形成自己的风格。林风眠作品的艺术特色表现:在颜色上国画和西方的油画结合;在线条上用笔注意肘部力量,技巧使线条变"活";意境则仿西方抽象类绘画;构思则以四边形为主。

Lin Fengmian devoted his life to combining Chinese painting with the watercolor painting abroad and looking for new creation ideas, forming his their painting style. Lin Fengrnian displays the following artistic features in his works： combining traditional Chinese painting and western painting in terms of colors; paying attention to the elbow strength in strokes and lines, using painting techniques to make the line ＂alive＂, imitating western abstract painting in artistic conception, and designing by giving priority to square shape.
