琴、瑟虽同为丝弦乐器,但形制不同,使用的场所也不同。瑟多用于礼仪活动中,与众多乐器一起演奏,其礼之用重于乐;琴作为君子修身之具,多用于独奏,仅与瑟、歌等合奏,其乐之义重于礼。

Although Qin and Se were the same stringed musical instruments, their shapes and using occasions were different. Se, which was more used as an ethical instrument than a musical one, was often used in ceremony activities, playing with a lot of other musical instruments. As a tool of cultivating gentleman＇s moral character, Qin, which was more used as a musical instrument than an ethical one, was often used for solo, and only playing with Se or Song.
