Natalie Davies is a representative writer of both the new cultural history and women＇s history. In her The Return of Martin Guerre, she tries to reconstruct the life world of Gail Martin by taking a case in the sixteenth century in rural France Languedoc impostor as the starting point. The description of Bertrand is an important factor in the whole book. Through the inner world of the heroine Bertrand and her constant reshaping of self identity, the author shows us the picture of the rural life in France during this period.
