In his colossal creative pedigree of Yokuapatawpha, Faulkner puts exclusive attention to American ladies. He shapes a series of repressed female images in his works to expose and censor intensive- ly the merciless southern ladyhood, sympathizing largely for their wretched and miserable encounters damaged by the dispiteous old southern tradition. But, the traditional southern lifestyle and values anchored in Faulkner＇s mind has ceaselessly recalled his reminiscence for the past, giving direct rise to his restrained criti- cism towards southern ladyhood on account of his paradoxical attitude towards womanhood in the American South.
