With the brief descriptions of the expanding and transforming developments from modern electronic warfare（EW）to electromagnetic spectrum warfare（EMSW）,the definitions and operational concepts of the electromagnetic spectrum warfare are introduced,and then the important roles of the communication electronic warfare（COMEW）in the modern electromagnetic spectrum warfare are analyzed.Finally,the suggestions of future development about communication electronic warfare are recommended.
