Cooper is an excellent ecological writer in the 19th century America, and his works contain rich ecological con- seiousness. On the basis of ecoeritical theory, this paper comprehensively studies the ecological consciousness of harmony, suffering and regression in Cooper＇s works, pointing out that Cooper＇s ecological consciousness ahead of his times is resulted from his love towards nature, yearning for freedom and reflection on the relationship between man and nature.
