The animal narrative in the novel I Can＇t Do Anything When I Think of You Late at Night can be summarized into three forms： the contrast, mutual metaphor and symbiosis between men and animals. The author＇s concern for animals intended to show the cruel and desperate living environment of the bachelors in Wen Jia Yao. The lack of food and sex, the living conditions like the animals and the extreme loneliness of the soul forced them to seek warmth and comfort to animals. The vulgar content, coarse language, rough structure contributed to special aesthetic style. However, the sinologist, Malmqvist＇s appreciation and academic re- viewers＂ neglection made for a sharp contrast. From the ups and downs of fame of this ＂Peasant writer ＂, Cao Naiqian, we can see the snoops from western ＂other＂ perspective and the discord of different classes of aesthetic taste.
