It is a great pleasure to welcome this new journal devoted to high altitude medicine and biology.I was fortunate to be the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of its American counterpart, High Altitude Medicine and Biology for 16 years.It was enormously satisfying to see that during that time, and indeed since then, it has flourished and greatly promoted this important area of medical science.
