摘要
1937年出版的《湖区画记》(The Silent Traveller:A Chinese Artist in Lakeland,1937,Country Life Ltd.),是流寓海外的著名华人作家兼书画家蒋彝"哑行者画记系列"的第一部。蒋彝去国怀乡,为了摆脱文化失语的"重哑"状态,综合自身在诗、书、画三方面的特长,发明了一种诗书画杂揉、中英文混合的语言,扬长避短,游刃有余,开拓了海外华人写作的新境界,也为自己在广袤的历史原野上找到了位置。
The Silent Traveler in Lakeland, published in 1937, authored by the famous overseas Chinese writer and painter Jiang Yi, is the first volume of The Dumb Series. To express a migrant's yearning for his native land, and get rid of cultural invisibility, Jiang Yi integrated his expertise in poetry, calligraphy and painting, to invent a language combined in the three artistic forms and mixed in English and Chinese languages, innovative and creative with his advantages, and opened up a new realm of overseas Chinese writing. He also secured his own position in the vast historieal field.
