The classical Chinese counter-reality novel＂Outlaws of the Marsh＂takes the depiction of Ji-ang-hu as one of its themes, which inevitably involves the language of Jiang-hu. Through various metaphori-cal means, this language creates many variant terms that take on the property of anti-language and fall into thecategory of argot. These terms can be seen as a display of verbal art that helps anti-social people keep theircommunication and behaviors hidden from the authority and the public eyes and ears, and the ultimate pur-pose is to construct and maintain the closed, exclusive and alternative counter-reality social mode that theylive in.
