Five Characteristics of the Neo-Confucianism Culture in the Area of Poyang Lake

The area of Poyang Lake has been regarded as the ＂headstream of Neo-Confucianism＂. The Neo-Confucian- ism culture is the basic core of the regional culture of Poyang Lake. This kind of culture has the following five charac- teristics： the persistence in respecting and believing Cheng and Zhu, and upholding conventional viewpoints; the syn- cretism of matching Zhu and Lu, and inclusiveness; ideality of sharpening principles and of being content with pover- ty and devoted to belief; practicality of learning classics and putting them into practice; loyalty with lofty quality and uprightness and honesty.
