2017年1月9日，法律年度开启典礼在香港大会堂举行，逾千名法律界人士和各界嘉宾出席；终审法院首席法官马道立先是检阅警察仪仗队，随后与律政司司长袁国强、大律师公会主席谭允芝及律师会会长苏绍聪先后致辞，为本个法律年度揭开序幕。
On Jan 9, 2017, the legal year opening ceremony was held in Hong Kong City Hall with the attendance over a thousand of jurists and guests from other fields. Mr. Ma Daoli （Geoffrey Ma）, chief justice of the court of last resort, firstly reviewed the police honor guard. Then he delivered the opening remarks to announce the beginning of the legal year, and so did Yuan Guoqiang （Rimsky Yuen） Secretary for Justice, Tan Yunzhi （Winnie Tam） chairman of Hong Kong Bar Association and Su Shaocong （Thomas So） the President of the Hong Kong Law Society.
