摘要
科尔曼对歌剧的审美和评价有非常独到的个人观点。他认为歌剧的本质是戏剧,但他对戏剧的所指并非通常的剧本、情节,而是音乐,他认为只有用音乐来支撑的戏剧才是好的歌剧,这是歌剧评判的唯一标准。但是他所指的音乐,又是什么样音乐?这在科尔曼心中是有严肃的标准的,他对歌剧作品的鲜明褒贬,都是出自他的这一标准。本文正是主要抓住这个被国内研究科尔曼歌剧思想所忽视的关键点,对他的歌剧批评思想进行了很有针对性的揭示和分析。
Joseph Kerman believes that the essence of opera is drama, which is music rather than script and plot.
