Competence of Librarians in the New Information Environment

在信息资源和社会环境的迅速变化中,图书馆早已不是唯一的信息提供者,图书馆的功能和运行形态需要随着读者需求的变化而展开调整。相应地图书馆员的角色也在不断发生变化,从单纯地检索和提供知识转化为组织和传播信息资源,做知识海洋中的导航员。因此图书馆员的服务能力越来越重要。参考了国内外对图书馆员职业能力的定义,对图书馆员服务能力进行探讨。

As the social environment and information resources develop rapidly, libraries are no longer the unique information provider; therefore, the functions of library should adjust to the changing demands of readers. Accordingly, the role of librarian also develops from searcher and provider of information into organizer and navigator, which requires more attention to be paid on the li- brarians＇ competences. This article discusses the competences of librarian and its definition home and abroad, summarizing the core competences for modem librarians.
