中美访谈类节目之情态隐喻比较研究

A Comparative Study of the Metaphors of Modality in Chinese and English Interview Programs

人际语法隐喻理论最早由Halliday提出并被视为功能语言学的重要组成部分。选取美国的《奥普拉脱口秀》和中国的《杨澜访谈录》为研究对象,从人际情态系统的角度比较中美访谈类节目中的交际话语,研究发现两个节目在主客观取向系统、情态的三级量值、归一性等几个方面都存在异同点:两种语言都存在情态隐喻的用法,但英语主观显性的表达多于汉语,较多体现隐喻的高情态值,表现形式多样化;汉语则倾向于表达低情态值,情态表达更具抽象性。通过研究,人们对中美访谈类节目有进一步的了解,同时对人际语法隐喻理论有更为深刻的认识,为人际话语研究提供一种新的视角。

The theory of Interpersonal Grammatical Metaphor first proposed by Halliday plays a great role in functional linguistics. This paper is intended for comparing the interpersonal discourses in the interview programs The Oprah Winfrey Show of America and Yang Lan One on One of China from the perspective of modality system. The similarities and differences are found in these two programs in the aspects of the orientations in modality, the three values of modality and the polarity of modality. There are quite a few expressions of modality metaphor in the two languages, however, the number of expressions of subjective explicit in English is far more than that in Chinese, and the modality of high value is preferred in English with various forms of expressions. For Chinese, expressions of low value modality are prior to others and the modality expressed tends to be more abstract. It is hoped that the analyses will help people have a further understanding of interview programs, deepen people＇s knowledge of interpersonal grammatical metaphor as well as offer a new perspective of studying interpersonal discourses.
