Comprehension of Metaphors in Text Reading-An Analysis of Gibran's ON LOVE

语篇是多义的,对语篇的理解是无穷无尽的,但个体对语篇的理解总是有限的。对语篇中的隐喻进行考察是语篇理解的一部分,是在特定层次和特殊视角的理解。隐喻可构成某些文体的特征,诗歌是语篇体现隐喻的主体。在概念隐喻理论框架下,对纪伯伦之ON LOVE的隐喻分析揭示了在诗人的心目中爱是一个强人。这既是对概念隐喻理论的检验,也是对该诗从概念隐喻理论视角的理解。

A text is of various meanings and comprehension of it is inexhaustible. An individual reader can only un- derstand a text to some degree. An investigation of metaphors in a text is part of understanding the text to be dealt with, a kind of comprehension on a particular level or from a special perspective. Some genres are characteristic ofmetaphors and poetry is the mainstream ot texts representing metaphors. Based on the Theory oi Conceptual Meta- phor, an analysis of Khalil Gibran＇s ON LOVE reveals that love is a strongman in the writer＇s imagination. The anal- ysis is a trial understanding of the poem at large as well as a good test of the Theory of Conceptual Metaphor.
