素描长时间以来并不作为一个独立的画种而存在,而是艺术家们开始正式创作之前进行的习作、草图或局部研究。进入新世纪后,素描艺术已经在当代文化观念、教育目标、教学方法等许多方面有了新的发展与要求。而当代文化和艺术观念对于素描的作用以及在素描中的反映,使我们看到了素描的多种面貌与可能性。

Drawing has not been regarded as a single kind of painting for a long time, rather, it is considered as the practice, sketch and part research before starting to paint. However, in the new era, drawing art has obtained some development and requirement in many aspects, like contemporary cultural concept, education aim and teaching methods. Contemporary cultural ＆ artistic concepts＇effect on drawing and reflection in drawing make the multiple faces and possibilities visible.
