In 2006, a burial of the Shang Dynasty (numbered as M89) was found in the bone workshop zone of the Shang Dynasty on the Tiesan Road in the south of the Yinxu Site. The date of this burial was Phase II of the Yinxu Culture; it was a rectangular vertical earthen shaft pit burial with a small size, in the grave goods unearthed, there were only one set of bronze gu-goblet and jue-cup, but there were large amount of jades, including jade yue- battle ax with bronze tang and jade spearhead with bronze socket, which were the symbols of rather high status, and semi-finished jade products, jade wastes and jade-working tools. Refen'ing to the jade scepter-shaped inscription on the bronze gu-goblet, the occupant of this burial was estimated to be a petty aristocrat in charge of the production of jades and management of jade workshop, and his clan might be the specialized jade workers and there might be jade workshops of the Yinxu Period nearby this burial. M89 is the first burial found in Yinxu Site whose occupant could be estimated as jade worker, and has significant meanings for the research on the handicraft production of that time.
