自然的冷热,生命的存亡——以《热爱生命》为例

杰克·伦敦是美国著名的现实主义作家,短暂的一生创作了许多自然主题的作品,让人们不断地思考人与自然的关系。《热爱生命》表现了自然的两面性,在淘金者面前既表现出冷酷无情的一面,同时也表现出大度宽容的一面;在自然面前,两个淘金者有不同的自然认知,一个热爱生命,放弃浮华,顺应自然,迎来新生;另一个,执迷不悟,一味追求所谓的财富,命丧荒原。自然的冷热、生命的存亡,表现了人与自然地位的平等。故事中两个人物不同的命运结局,表现了土地伦理的形成,人们应从自然中寻求精神的价值。

Jack London is a famous realistic writer in America. In his short life, he wrote many works about nature, whichalways makes people think about the relationship between man and nature. In Love of Life, nature shows tw-o sides, the indif-ferent side and the tolerant one to the gold seekers who have different natural cognition to it. One loves life, abandons vanity and complies with nature, therefore, he survives at the end of the story; the other pursuits the wealth desperately and finally dies in the wilderness. The two sides of nature and the survival or death shows the equality between man and nature. Differ-ent fate of the two characters in the story performs the foundation of the land ethic, in which people should seek the valueof spirit.
