Comments and Analysis on China's Economic and Social Development(1997-2002)

本文作者认为过去5年(1997—2002年期间),中国国民经济持续稳定快速增长,除了失业率之外几乎主要宏观经济指标都是全球最佳。其主要原因是中国政府宏观经济调控能力得到明显的加强和改善,有效地实行旨在扩大国内需求的各项政策,对保持经济持续增长和宏观经济稳定起到重要作用。同时作者还分析了产业发展、投资现状和财政收入等对经济发展做出的贡献,并在此基础上对新一届政府提出了一系列政策建议。

The author maintains that during the last five years(1997-2002) China has achieved sustainable,fast,and steady economic growth.All of its macroeconomic indicators are the best in the world except for the unemployment index.The main reasons for this are that the Chinese government has made great progress in its ability to adjust the macroeconomics and to enlarge domestic demand effectively,thus playing an important role in economic growth and stability. The author also analyzes the contribution of industrial development,investment, and fiscal revenue to economic development,on the basis of which he advances some policy advice for the new government.
