This paper summarized the last ending work of the first geographical conditions census of Wuhan, including summing-up and commendation, results archiving, database construction and platform development, district–level results release, platform application and requirement investigation, and introduced the latest work preparation, technology preparation, funds preparation and manufacture preparation of the geographical conditions monitoring of Wuhan, which laid good foundations for the transformation from census to monitoring of geographical conditions. The paper expounded the main targets, basic principles and major content, including basic monitoring, special monitoring, database updating and platform maintenance, statistic analysis and research. And then, the paper proposed the key points of monitoring work, including index system and special monitoring contents, deepen the application of monitoring results including comprehensive analysis and data mining, enhance the insurances including top-level design, work coordination and personnel training.
