Bingting in the Bamboo Slips of Han Dynasty was a name of Bu which was governed by Jiaqu Houguan and the seat was Bingting Sui. Bingting Bu was located in the north of the northern frontier of Jiaqu River and Bingting Sui was in its north. Few relics of Bingting Bu remained except that 35 Sui ( A2 ) and Bingting Sui (A1a) had obvious modem remains. Bingting Bu was the largest one of Jiaqu Houguan and had the longest line of defense, the most Suis, officers, soldiers and weapons except Jiaqu Houguan. Bingting, as a name of Bu, started from the second year of Shenjue (60 B. C. ) to the first year of Jianwu and the time of garrison system even extended to the year of Shiyuan(86-80 B. C. ) . The Bus of Jiaqu Houguan were named after the Suis on the southernmost point with the exception of Bingting Bu. Maybe the reason is that Bingting Sui was very important in the location as the northernmost Sui of Jiaqu Houguan. The second reason was per-haps that its location was in the north of Bu and they could communicate with Tianbei Houguan more conven-iently.
