Praying Custom in Front of Feixia Cave in Wenzhou

温州飞霞洞,因其荒凉、阴暗、神秘,人们认为易滋生邪灵鬼怪。将小孩或体弱的人患病归结于失落了魂魄,由此衍生出的求洞习俗,实际上为一种招魂仪式,亦可以看作是一种信仰治疗方式。求洞习俗与社会发展息息相关,随着社会发展而终将消亡。

Feixia cave in Wenzhou is thought to be a good place for breeding evil spirits and ghosts because o f its desolation, darkness and mystery. People tend to attribute the illness of children and the weak to the loss of their souls. Derived from the belief,the praying custom in front of Feixia cave is actually a ritual of soul evocation and a faith remedy as well, which is closely related to the social development, and it will eventually die out.
